ReplyDeletei think the solution to 1.335 given by you has some inconsistancies because if h3 < 3(h2 - h1)

ReplyDeletethen the velocity is imaginary iethe flow stops much earlier within the tube.

The data given in irodov is such that if your solution is correct the answer is imaginary.

though i very much doubt the hint given by mister irodov himself as it is not explicit,but your ans if true should also deal with the cases whence the ans is imaginary separately.

ReplyDeleteits my humble request to you that can't we have a general proof for electrostatic energy density which is in scope of a 12th class student preparing for iit jee using vectors and calculus. I have been unable to find general proof for it . In hc verma also it is only verified by assuming a particular case for capacitor. I will be thankful to you as there is very less explanation about this energy in many books

try out feynman lectures(volume 2)....gives u a proper proof of electrostatic energy density....but it uses vector calculus(which is beyond the course of iitjee)

DeleteAkhil, express the length of string l as a function of x (i.e l=sqrt (16+x^2). Then differentiate the expression w.r.t t twice. dl/dt is vB and d2l/dt2 is aB. dx/dt is vA (and remember d2x/dt2 =0 given). Then substitute x=3. Email me at hari@drive.ly if you're having difficulty.
